Wales Literature Exchange welcomes Czech poet and translator Tomáš Míka to Aberystwyth this week for a residency.

During his residency, held between January 10th - 17th 2015, Tomáš Míka will not only have the opportunity to translate the poetry of R.S.Thomas into Czech, but also discuss and meet with experts, academics and journalists to further his understanding of the literature scene in Wales.

Tomáš Míka is an award-winning literary translator. Among the writers he has translated into Czech are the 17th century classics The Pilgrim's Progress and Grace Abounding by John Bunyan, James Hogg (Confessions of a Justified Sinner), Samuel Beckett (Watt), and Jack Black (You Can’t Win). His original work includes a book of poetry Nuceny vysek (Destruction of Animals) in Prague, in 2003. His book of short stories Und was published in September 2005 (Argo Publishers). His book of poetry Deník rychlého člověka (Journal of a Fast Man) was published in December 2007. He lives in Prague.
