Mona de Pracontal lives in Paris and won the Prix Baudelaire translation award in 2009.

She was a Translators' House Wales translator in residence in April 2010. She spent a fortnight at Ty Newydd Writers' Centre in Llanystumdwy, north Wales, working on a French translation of The Long Dry by Welsh author Cynan Jones. During her residency, Mona was able to meet with Cynan to discuss his work whilst also visiting some of the places which inspired the scenes in the novel.

The Long Dry translation was commissioned by the Joelle Losefeld imprint, which is part of Gallimard publishers in France.

Among other books translated into French by Mona de Pracontal are The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti (Gallimard, 2009), Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda N. Adichie (Gallimard, 2008) and The Body by Hanif Kureishi (Christian Bourgois, 2003).

Mona is currently working on a French translation of Cynan Jones's most recent novel, Everything I Found on the Beach (Parthian, 2011) selected for the Exchange's Autumn 2011 Bookcase.
