Alun Davies was born in Aberystwyth in 1980, and after a period of twelve years living in London returned to Wales in 2011. Now living in Cardiff, Alun is a software developer and business owner.
His first novel, Ar Drywydd Llofrudd, was published by Y Lolfa in 2018. This was the first in his trilogy of noir detective stories set in Aberystwyth, following the troubled Detective Taliesin MacLeavy. The second, Ar Lwybr Dial, was published in 2020 and received acclaim from readers and some of Wales’ leading authors, and is also selected to our 2020–21 Bookcase. The last novel in the trilogy, Ar Daith Olaf, will be published in late 2021. Alun has appeared to discuss his books in several Welsh literature festivals.
Alun has travelled extensively in North and South America and is keen to see more of the world. In his spare time, he enjoys running and cycling, and has completed several triathlons, and considers these periods of exercise essential for developing his novels. He is a keen follower of the Welsh football team, and father to wonderful girl and a very lively boy.
