Clare, Horatio

Horatio Clare is an award-winning author of one novella and several works of non-fiction, including the bestselling Running for the Hills (John Murray, 2006) and A Simple Swallow (Chatto & Windus, 2009). Running for the Hills won the Somerset Maugham award in 2006 and was longlisted for The Guardian First Book Award 2006. Horatio was shortlisted for the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award in 2007. 

Raised on a sheep farm in Wales, he is variously a journalist, broadcaster, lecturer, teacher and Fellow in Creative Writing at the University of Liverpool. His essays and reviews appear regularly in The Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Independent.

In January 2019 he was one of the authours who took part in a two-city programme of literary debates, theatre, dance and film in Calicut and Mumbai, organised by Literature Across Frontiers and Wales Literature Exchange.
