Guto Dafydd is a poet and novelist from Trefor, Gwynedd. He graduated in Welsh from Bangor University, where he completed a dissertation on the work of Wiliam Owen Roberts and Iwan Llwyd.

In 2014, he published a detective novel for young adults, Jac (y Lolfa), and in the same year, he published a volume of poetry Ni Bia'r Awyr (Barddas). He published his first adult novel in 2015, Stad (y Lolfa).

He won the Crown at the Urdd Eisteddfod in 2013, and the National Eisteddfod in both 2014 and 2019. He also won the Daniel Owen Award at the 2016 National Eisteddfod for his novel Ymbelydredd (‘Radioactivity’) which follows a young man from Gwynedd as he follows a radiotherapy course in Manchester. This novel was selected to our 2016-17 Bookshelf and the novel won the Golwg360 People's Opinion award at the 2017 Book of the Year awards.

In 2019 he won the Crown of the National Eisteddfod, and the Daniel Owen Award for his novel Carafanio – the second time that he won both awards.
