Jure Jakob was born in 1977 in Celje, Slovenia and studied comparative literature at the University of Ljubljana, where he now lives. He has published three collections of poetry: Tri postaje/Three Stations, 2003; Budnost/Wakefulness, 2006; Zapuščeni kraji/Abandoned Places, 2010. His fourth collection, Delci dela/Pieces of Work, is due to be published in 2013. His first collection, for which he was awarded with the Zlata ptica award for the outstanding achievements of young artists, has been translated and published in Croatian. A selection of his poems have also been translated into English, Italian, German, Polish, Serbian and Hungarian.

He is Translators' House Wales writer in residence, May-June 2013, supported by Goga publishing house in Slovenia.
