 Katica Garoska Acevska

Katica Acevska was born in Skopje, R. Macedonia. She graduated from Cyril & Methodius University, Skopje, having studied English language and literature & French language and literature. She translates from English, French, Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian - mainly fiction, poetry, essays, short stories. She has been honoured with the Golden Pen prize by the Macedonian Association of Literary Translators and has been a resident grant holder in translation centres in England, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the USA, prior to her residency in Wales.

She has translated numerous well-known authors including: Roald Dahl, J. D. Salinger, Arundhati Roy, Kenneth White, Gao Xingjian, Robert Graves, Philip Roth, D.H.Lawrence, Yukio Mishima, Marguerithe Yourcenar, Virginia Woolf, John Steinbeck, Henric Pontoppidan, Scott Fitzgerald, Fadila Nura Haver,. Filip David, Mirko Kovac, Charles Dickens, Goran Samardzic, Snezana Bukal.

During her Translators' House Wales residency in January 2013 she will be translating the work of Lewis Davies.

Katica has a great interest in mountaineering and is the Editor-in-Chief of the Balkan Mountaineering Magazine.
