Lloyd Jones lives in Llanfairfechan in north Wales. He is a former farmworker, chamber of horrors employee, lecturer and newspaper editor. A reformed alcoholic, he walked around Wales as part of his 'cure', sleeping rough and rediscovering his homeland.

His second novel, Mr Cassini was published in 2006 for which he crossed Wales seven times in seven different directions in order to recover the years of a lost childhood. Mr Vogel was shortlisted for the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Writing, and won the McKitterick Prize. Mr Cassini won the Wales Book of the Year award in 2007.

His first novel in Welsh Y Dŵr (Water) was published by Y Lolfa in 2009 and adpated into English by the author under the title Water (Y Lolfa) in 2014.

His latest novel, Fflur (y Lolfa, 2019), has been selected to our 2020–2021 bookcase.
