 Llwyd Owen

Llwyd Owen is an award-winning author who has published eleven novels since bursting onto the Welsh literary scene in 2006 with his ferocious and challenging debut novel, Ffawd Cywilydd a Chelwyddau (Fate Shame & Lies), was published to widespread acclaim (and a dusting of disquiet) in March 2006.

The author’s second novel, Ffydd Gobaith Cariad (Faith Hope & Love), followed six months later, and went on to win the 2007 Welsh Book of the Year Award. Since then, the author has published, on average, a novel a year, while also working as a translator, an occasional scriptwriter and television presenter and, more recently, a pod-crafter. He has recently published the fourth book in a series of novels set in the imaginary town of Gerddi Hwyan, following the exploits of the town’s police force and hoodlums; while his other novels have told the stories of such disparate characters as a television producer in the midst of a war with Satan; a hit-man with a heart of gold and serious mummy-issues; and a fictional version of the author ‘Llwyd Owen’ whose own life slowly turns into the thriller he’s currently writing.

He has translated and adapted two of his novels into English, while his work has also been adapted by others for the radio and to be performed on the national stage. He made his stage debut (as writer and actor) at the 2018 Cardiff Bay National Eisteddfod.

Pyrth Uffern, was selected to the 2018 Bookcase.
