French, Ray

Ray French was born in Newport, south Wales. He has worked with people with disabilities, as a stagehand, labourer, cartoonist, archivist and in libraries. His first book, The Red Jag and other stories (Planet), was nominated for the Macmillan Silver Pen Award and several of the stories were adapted for Radio 4. All This is Mine, his first novel, was published by Secker and Warburg (2003) and is now a Vintage paperback. It has been translated into Italian and Dutch. He now lives in Leeds where he teaches creative writing. He is a Royal Literary Fund Fellow. Going Under (Harvill Secker, 2007) is his second novel.
