Robin Ngangom was born in 1959 in Imphal, India - 'the forgotten theatre of the Second World War' - and teaches literature at the University of North-Eastern Hill, Shillong, India. He is a poet and translator who writes in English and Manipuri and is a dynamic figure in the literatures of north-eastern India. He collabroated with poets from across the Indian sub-continent and Wales in creative translation workshops organised by Wales Literature Exchange in Wales and India. His work can be read in Welsh translation by Karen Owen and Hywel Griffiths in a special supplement published by the Exchange in partnership with the literary review, Taliesin in August 2013. He is also currently working on an anthology of Welsh poetry translated into Manipuri.
