2014 Highlights: Reading China, Translating Wales

To celebrate the publication of a special Welsh issue of Foreign Literature and Art, a leading Chinese review, Wales Literature Exchange and the School of Modern Languages at Bangor University held a symposium on literature and publishing exchange between Wales and China on Friday, May 2nd, 2014.

Highlights included a discussion on world literature between Patrick McGuinness and Wu Hong, Vice Editor-in-Chief, Shanghai Translation Publishing House, the Chinese poet Hu Dong discussing his work and the Reading China, Translating Wales: Challenges and Opportunities Round Table Discussion led by Jon Gower.

During the symposium a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Wales Literature Exchange, Bangor University and the Shanghai Translation Publishing House, in order to strengthen and develop the flourishing partnership between the three institutions.
