Since 2002 Scritture Giovani has been an exceptional showcase through which many young writers from different nations have had the opportunity to make themselves known outside their own country and meet an international audience.
This year, authors Valerie Fritsch (Austria), Marco Parlato (Italy), Elske Rahill (Ireland) and Llŷr Gwyn Lewis were invited to write a short story on the theme, Home. As part of the project, the stories have been translated into Italian, German and English and published in a special volume.
The four appeared at the Hay Festival in May, the Berlin Internationales Literaturfestival and the Scritture Giovani Festivaletteratura, Italy in September to read and discuss their work.
Since 2002 a number of authors from Wales have been selected to take part in the project, including Owen Sheers, Fflur Dafydd, Cynan Jones and Rachel Trezises. Wales Literature Exchange have have worked with Scritture Giovani throughout the years by aiding and supporting the translation work.
