Llŷr Gwyn Lewis to appear at the European Festival of the First Novel

Llŷr Gwyn Lewis, one of our 2014 – 2015 Bookcase authors, along with Lefi Gruffudd, Commissioning Editor at his publisher Y Lolfa, will appear at the European Festival of the First Novel held in Kiel, Germany, between May 28 - 31 2015.

Ten novelists and their editors as well as other literary professionals will gather in Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel to discuss writing and publishing, to acquaint themselves with new novels and pave the way for translation.

Participating authors and publishing houses include:

  • Niviaq Korneliussen author of HOMO sapienne (milik publishing), Denmark/Greenland;
  • Denis Michelis author of La chance que tu as (Éditions Stock), France;
  • Manuel Niedermeier author of Durch frühen Morgennebel (C.H. Beck), Germany;
  • Ester Armanino author of Storia naturale di una famiglia (Giulio Einaudi editore), Italy;
  • Bertram Koeleman author of De huisvriend (Atlas Contact Publisher), Netherlands;
  • Gjermund Gisvold author of Gjøkungen (Tiden Norsk Forlag), Norway;
  • Żanna Słoniowska author Dom z witrażem (Znak), Poland;
  • Patrick Maisano author of Mezzogiorno (Müry Salzmann), Switzerland.

Excerpts of the debut novels including Rhyw Flodau Rhyfel (Some Flowers of War) by Llŷr Gwyn Lewis will be presented during the Opening Reading Gala held at the Literaturhaus in Kiel on Thursday, May 28 2015 from 7pm to 11pm. The authors will read short sequences from their novels in the original language before Eva Krautwig and Nils Aulike will present excerpts from the German sample translation.

The authors will also attend meetings with students at the Christian-Albrechts University and a literary conference with the aim of creating a forum for exchange on literature, language and ways of promoting and transferring literature in Europe.
