Welsh publishers Seren and Parthian have just returned from the Basque Country, where they joined UK publishers Peter Owen, Comma Press, MacLehose Press and journalist Maya Jaggi, to get an insight into the book market and literary culture in the region. The visit was organised by our sister organization, Literature Across Frontiers, and hosted by the Etxepare Institute.

Earlier this year, Mick Felton of Seren received a Schwob Publisher Fellowship. As part of the fellowship, Mick visited Barcelona to meet with 8 publishers, Metis (Turkey), Diogenes (Switzerland), Fayard (France), Lebowski (The Netherlands), WSOY (Finland), Polirom (Romania), Foksal Publishing Group (Poland), and Elliot edizioni (Italy), to discuss modern classics which are yet to be widely translated, including books from Wales.

As part of the meetings, Schwob pitched titles of interest, provided details of translation rights and offered information regarding funding including translation grants available.
