The English language winner of the Translation Challenge this year will be announced at an event held by Wales PEN Cymru at the Hay Festival on Tuesday, 30 May 2017 at 5pm in the Summer House.
This year’s challenge was to translate a poem by Turkish writer, küçük İskender, into English. The translations will be juged by Caroline Stockford a poet, translator and playwright living in Aberystwyth. The winner will be awarded a prize of £250 from Swansea University, and the winning translation published in Poetry Wales.

As well as announcing the winner, there will also be readings and performances by refugees and asylum seekers in Wales.
The event is open to all, wine, soft drinks and international nibbles will be served.
The 2017 Translation Challenge partners are as follows: Wales Literature Exchange, Wales PEN Cymru, Aberystwyth Univesity, and Swansea University.
