International Translation Day 2017

Monday, 2 October 2017, 9.00am – 5.30pm.

British Library, NW1 2DB

International Translation Day is the annual event for the translation community. It is an opportunity for translators, students, publishers, booksellers, librarians, bloggers and reviewers to gather and network, debate significant issues and developments within the sector, and to discuss challenges and celebrate success.

This year’s vibrant day-long programme includes seminars on translating poetry, gender, sexuality and translation, translating children's literature, translating human rights and translating Arabic literature.  Speakers include Alexandra Buchler, Director of Literature Across Frontiers, Samantha Schnee, Founding Editor of Words Without Borders and journalist and author Bidisha.

Presented by Free Word, English PEN and the British Library in association with the Wales Literature Exchange, British Centre for Literary Translation, Emerging Translators Network, Literature Across Frontiers, the Translators' Association, Words Without Borders and Writers Centre Norwich.
