Raymond Williams’ Border Country in Italian
Raymond Williams (1921- 1988) was a Welsh academic, novelist and critic. An influential figure within cultural studies and cultural materialism, Williams’ writings made a significant contribution to Marxist critique and are regularly translated.
His first novel, Border Country, was published in 1960 and was re-published in 2005 as part of Parthian’s Library of Wales series of Welsh classics fallen out of print.
Many of Williams’ novels are concerned with class, community, as well as more personal relationships, such as the father-son relationship explored in Border Country.
Funded by our translation grants, PaginaUno have published this Welsh classic into Italian. This is the first translation of any of Williams’ novels into Italian, with an introduction by the translator, Carmine Mezzacappa.
