Translating children's literature - a creative course

Wales Literature Exchange is organising a weekend creative translation course focusing on children’s literature at the Tŷ Newydd: National Writers’ Centre for Wales, in Llanystumdwy, 10-11 March, 2012.

The course is being organised in partnership with The Welsh Translators and Interpreters’ Association and Tŷ Newydd: National Writers’ Centre for Wales as part of the Translators’ House Wales programme of activity, with the support of Literature Across Frontiers and Wales Arts International.

Over a challenging and engaging two days, attendees will be given the chance to enjoy presentations, discussions and practical work in the company of renowned, international writers who have written specifically for children. Writers Sampurna Chattarji from Mumbai, Mererid Hopwood from Wales, Jyrki Kiiskinen from Finland and Gerður Kristný from Iceland will be sharing their experience translating each other's work with the course participants.

Course Fees

£110 – residential, single room (£95 to members of the Association of Welsh Translators)

£85 – residential, shared room (£70 to members of the Association of Welsh Translators)

£75 – non-residential (£60 to members of the Association of Welsh Translators)

Closing date for course registration is 17 February 2012.

Translators’ House Wales is a partnership between Wales Literature Exchange and Tŷ Newydd: National Writers’ Centre for Wales and organises an annual programme of activity in the field of literary translation in Wales.
