Five UK-based publishers will visit Budapest and Bratislava this November as part of Literature Across Frontier's efforts to spark literary exchange across Europe. Gary Pulsifer of Arcadia Books, Katharina Bielenberg from MacLehose Press, Richard Davies of Parthian Books, Peter Owen's Simon Smith and Jim Hinks of Comma Press will visit the Biblioteka book fair in Bratislava and meet publishers and literary promoters to get a taste of the local literary scenes. The meetings will be an opportunity for publishers to exchange translation rights and bring more Hungarian and Slovakian writing to UK readers and vice versa. The visit is hosted by the Hungarian Books and Translation Office and Centre for Information on Slovak Literature. Wales Literature Exchange worked with Literature Across Frontiers to ensure the participation of a publisher from Wales.
