Finland will be the guest of honour of the bookfair held between October 8 – 12 2014. The Exchange will be meeting publishers, agents and translators, and presenting our new Bookcase - our selection of books which we recommend for translation.

International literature in Germany, France & the UK – a comparative perspective

The United Kingdom is the largest source of book translations into other languages while being the least receptive to writing from other cultures. A study by Literature Across Frontiers takes a comparative look at the position of international writing in the three major European language territories, providing a starting point for a debate on the wider topic of cultural exchange, import and export.
Speakers include Christopher MacLehose (UK) publisher, Pierre Astier (France) literary agent and ex-publisher and Florian Höllerer (Germany) Literarisches Colloquium Berlin. The discussion witll be chaired by Alexandra Büchler (UK) Literature Across Frontiers.
