Mona de Pracontal will stay at the Ty Newydd National Writers’ Centre in Llanystumdwy, Gwynedd. Her visit has been facilitated and part-funded by Translators’ House Wales, a joint venture between Wales Literature Exchange and Tŷ Newydd. During her residency, Mona will have a chance to meet Cynan Jones and to discuss his work.
The Long Dry translation has been commissioned by the Joelle Losefeld imprint, which is part of Gallimard publishers in France.
Among the other books translated into French by Mona de Pracontal are The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti (Gallimard, 2009), Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda N. Adichie (Gallimard, 2008) and The Body by Hanif Kureishi (Christian Bourgois, 2003). She won the Prix Baudelaire translation award in 2009.
The Long Dry by Cynan Jones has already been translated into Arabic by publishers Al Jafaf Altaweel in Egypt.
