HALMA European Network of Literature and Translation Centres meets in Sylt
The European network of Translators' Houses will be gathering its members on the island of Sylt, Germany on the 11th and 12th of May.
Sylt is where HALMA member, Foundation kunst:raum sylt quelle, is based. This is also where author Siân Melangell Dafydd spent one month of her two-centre Translators' House Wales-HALMA residency in 2010. It will also host Finnish author Harri Salmenniemi later this year before he comes to Wales for the second part of his residency.
The meeting will run in parallel with the European Festival of the First Novel in Kiel, organised by HALMA member, Literaturhaus Schleswig-Holstein, where members will be joining the opening event. Patrick McGuinness will be representing Wales at the festival with his Booker longlisted novel, The Last Hundred Days (Seren, 2011).
Translators' House Wales-HALMA residencies are made possible with the generous support of Wales Arts International and Literature Across Frontiers.
