Ifor ap Glyn is an award-winning broadcaster and poet. He was born in London to Welsh parents but now lives in Caernarfon.

He has twice won the Crown for poetry at the National Eisteddfod. In 1999, his winning series of poems were about adult learners of Welsh; in 2013, he wrote in response to the number of Welsh speakers recorded in the 2011 Census.

In 1996, he co-founded Cwmni Da, an independent television company, and has worked as a director, producer and presenter.

In 2008-09 he held the post of Bardd Plant Cymru (Welsh Children’ Poet), and since 2016 he is the National Poet of Wales.

His work has been translated into over a dozen languages, and he has performed at poetry festivals around the world. His latest collection of poems, Cuddle Call? (Carreg Gwalch, 2018) was his first with English translation in parallel text.

His other collections of poetry include Golchi Llestri Mewn Bar Mitzvah (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, 1998), Waliau’n Canu (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, 2011) and Tra bo Dau (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, 2016).

He has also published historical works including an anthology about the First World War, Lleisiau’r Rhyfel Mawr (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, 2008) and Canrif yn Cofio – Hedd Wyn (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, 2017), as well as a volume providing entertaining snippets about the source and development of words in the Welsh language, Hanes yr Iaith Mewn 50 Gair (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, 2018).
