Twm Morys (1961-) was born in Oxford and brought up in Gwynedd and Breconshire. One of Wales's most intriguing literary figures, Twm Morys also writes for television and radio, as well as lyrics, which he has sung with his folk-rock group, Bob Delyn a'r Ebillion. After graduating from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, he worked for BBC Radio Cymru. Morys later moved to Brittany, where he lived for ten years and worked as a lecturer at the University of Rennes. In addition to two volumes of poetry, Twm Morys has written an important body of essays as columnist for various literary reviews. The son of the writer Jan Morris, he has collaborated with her on the two volumes, Wales, the First Place (Random House, 1982) and A Machynlleth Triad/Triawd Machynlleth (Penguin, 2004). Ein Llyw Cyntaf (Gomer, 2001) is his Welsh adaptation of Jan Morris's novel Our First Leader (Gomer, 2000). Twm Morys was Welsh Children's Poet Laureate for 2009–2010. Since 2011 he is Editor of the second best-selling poetry magazine in the British Isles, Barddas.
