The English language winner of the Translation Challenge this year will be announced at an event held by Wales PEN Cymru at the Hay Festival on 28 May 2016 at 4pm in the Summer House.

This year’s challenge was to translate the Spanish poem, ‘El Conejo y la Chistera’, by the Mexican poet, Pedro Serrano. Professor Richard Gwyn was the judge of the English translations, whilst Ned Thomas was the judge of the Welsh translation attempts. The Welsh language winner will be awarded at the National Eisteddfod in August.

As well as announcing the winner and awarding him or her with £250, there will also be a chance to hear presentations and discussions with refugee writers and learn about Wales Pen Cymru’s plans to work with refugee writers in Wales.
