Friday 30 September 2016, 9.00am – 5.30pm British Library, NW1 2DB

International Translation Day is the annual event for the translation community. It is an opportunity for translators, students, publishers, booksellers, librarians, bloggers and reviewers to gather and network, debate significant issues and developments within the sector, and to discuss challenges and celebrate success.

This year’s vibrant day-long programme includes seminars on women writers in translation, multilingualism, the state of translation in higher education, alternative routes to publication and translating for the stage. Speakers include Elin Haf Gruffydd Jones, Director of the Mercator Institute for Media, Languages and Culture, home of Wales Literature Exchange.

Presented by Free Word, English PEN and the British Library in association with the Wales Literature Exchange, British Centre for Literary Translation, Emerging Translators Network, Literature Across Frontiers, the Translators' Association, Words Without Borders and Writers Centre Norwich.
