Ielyzaveta Stefanova from Leipzig University will be giving a seminar on Wednesday, 24 February, at 4.00pm. This will be held in the ILLCA Meeting Room in the Hugh Owen building and will be open to all. Her seminar will deal with the literature of three coalmining communities: the Donbass in Eastern Ukraine, Lusatia (the Sorbian region in the former east Germany), and Wales. She will be analysing the historical context from which the literature of these communities arises, and will be examining how the lives of the people are reflected in their literature.
Ielyzaveta Stefanova is a PhD student in Leipzig University and is currently visiting Aberystwyth. The title of her paper will be ‘Historical circumstances of coal mining in Donbass, Lusatia and Wales and interrelated cultural perspectives’.
