An opportunity for writers and translators: Residencies in Slovenia in 2016

The Slovene Writers’ Association have announced an open call for their 2016 Residency Programme.

The residency programme is open to writers with at least two published works, as well as literary translators who have completed their training and have published at least two literary translations. Translators are only eligible if they translate Slovenian literature into a foreign language.

The Slovene Writers’ Association invites a maximum of 20 authors each year to work for 1–4 weeks in a studio apartment in Ljubljana. The second floor studio apartment has a double bed, a kitchen and a bathroom and is located in the Šiška area of Ljubljana.

Residents are provided with a stationary telephone and internet connection for the duration of their residency. The resident will be responsible for travel and living expenses, including accident and health insurance.

In order to apply, the following documents are required:

  • A short CV, including a detailed list publications or translations;
  • A short written project proposal (not more than one A4 page);

Applications must be submitted by regular post or email before 30.10.2015 (date of postmark) to:

Submission must be clearly marked ‘Artist in Residence in Ljubljana/Slovenia 2016’.
