On Thursday, 8th of August the winner of the 2019 Her Gyfieithu was announced at a special ceremony in Llanrwst on the site of the National Eisteddfod.

We were pleased to announce the winner was poet and writer, Morgan Owen, who wrote under the pseudonym "Badwr". Morgan received a £200 prize donated by Swansea University and a beautiful Her Gyfieithu staff made by Elis Gwyn from our sponsors, Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru. His winning translation, along with Dr. Aled Llion Jones' adjudication, was published by Welsh-language literary magazine O’r Pedwar Gwynt.

This year's challenge was to translate two poems by contemporary Polish poet, Julia Fiederoczuk.

The competition was organised jointly by Wales PEN Cymru and Wales Literature Exchange, in cooperation with Swansea University, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Polish Cultural Institute, Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru (the association of Welsh translators and interpreters) and the literary magazine O’r Pedwar Gwynt.
