Literature in the Welsh language gets special attention in the current number of the very substantial periodical Chroniques du ça et là, published in Paris by PhB éditions (April 2016, 288 pp). An excellent article by Marie-Thérèse Castay, illustrated with her own translations, gives an overview of the literature from Canu Aneurin and Dafydd ap Gwilym to Ann Griffiths and Saunders Lewis. A second item is a translation of an early Kate Roberts story “Y llythyr”, again by Marie-Thérèse Castay. Finally, the volume contains a number of contemporary Welsh poems by Jodie Jones, translated into French by the author who lives in France. Other countries represented in the current number of this periodical are Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania. Slovenia and the Czech Republic.
