Wales Literature Exchange are marking World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (July 30th) by promoting Welsh novel, Broc Rhyfel (Dealers) by Martin Davis to publishers, translators and international literary festival organisers, in a special newsletter.

Broc Rhyfel (Dealers) was selected to the Wales Literature Exchange 2014–2015 Bookcase, our window to recent Welsh literary works which we recommend for translation. This powerful novel takes the reader into the darker corners of modern Europe, from the war-torn Balkans to the present day abuse and exploitation of women.

When publishing the novel, Martin Davis pledged to donate Broc Rhyfel publishing royalties to the Poppy Project. The Poppy Project was set up in 2003 to provide high-quality support, advocacy and accommodation to trafficked women; that is, women who have been brought into England or Wales to be exploited in some way.

At any given time, an estimated 21 million people are trapped in modern-day slavery. Men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers both in their own countries and abroad.
