Perffaith Nam

A tri-lingual event, hosted by the Poetry Society, will be held at the Poetry Café, London on Friday, 19 June 2015 to celebrate the publication of Perffaith Nam (Perfect Blemish) by Menna Elfyn in Hindi translation.

The volume has been translated by the poet, translator and editor Rati Saxena, and published by Kritya Publication with the support of a translation grant by Wales Literature Exchange.

Rati Saxena has published 11 collections of poetry in Hindi and English, while her work has been translated into English, Italian, Irish, and Malayam by other poets. She has translated Malayalam and Norwegian works, both prose and poetry, into Hindi and published articles on translation in a number of journals. In 2000, she secured the Kendriya Sahitya Akademi award for translation.

During the event, Menna Elfyn and Rati Saxena will read their work in Welsh, English and Hindi. The poets will also be in conversation, discussing each other’s work and the process of translation.
