Dalkey Archive Press has published its fifth annual collection, Best European Fiction 2014. The collection, aims to presents the best modern European literature to a new audience, and this year includes translations from over 25 languages. Amongst the short stories selected, and representing the literature of Wales, is ‘Scavenger,’ by Robert Minhinnick.
Wales Literature Exchange has worked with Dalkey Archive Press and the Welsh Book Council to promote authors from Wales since the launch of the collection five years ago. Authors selected in the past include Penny Simpson (2010), Wiliam Owen Roberts (2011), Duncan Bush (2012) and Ray French (2013).
To celebrate the publication of the collection, Dalkey Archive Press will be holding a special event with Robert Minhinnick, Herkus Kuncius (Lithuania), Oscar Magnusson (Iceland), Susana Medina (Spain), Tonu Onnepalu (Estonia) and Drago Jančar (Slovenia), author of this year’s preface. The evening will be chaired by journalist, Rosie Goldsmith, and held in Europe House, London, on January 15th 2014, at 18:30.
