Success for books selected to the Wales Literature Exchange Book Case

Four books selected to the Wales Literature Exchange 2014-2015 Bookcase have been shortlisted for the 2015 Wales Book of the Year.

The 2015 Wales Book of the Year Award will be presented to the best Welsh and English-language works first published in 2014 in the fields of creative writing and literary criticism in three categories: Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction and Poetry. The winner of the Poetry category will receive the Roland Mathias Prize for Poetry. The Award is administered by Literature Wales.

Rhyw Flodau Rhyfel (Some Flowers of War) by Llŷr Gwyn Lewis, has been selected by Welsh-language panel judging panel, author Annes Glynn, poet Hywel Griffiths and actor and musician actor Gareth Potter.

The English language judging panel include poet Paul Henry, author Tessa Hadley and literary critic Alex Clark. The Dig by Cynan Jones has been selected to the fiction short list, while Down to the Sea in Ships by Horatio Clare and Other People’s Countries by Patrick McGuinness has been selected to the Creative Non-Fiction short list.

The winners of the 2015 Award will be announced at an award ceremony at Galeri Caernarfon, Thursday 4 June.

Each category winner will receive a prize of £2,000, and the two main winners in each language will receive an additional £6,000.
