Huw Fyw(Huw that Lived)

‘Remember, never try your best, it might save your life one day’

Huw Fyw is the Huw that lived. Huw Farwodd is the Huw that died. Both left their Anglesey village to fight in the Second World war, but only one returned.

Huw Fyw is now an old man, cantankerous and stubborn, hiding secrets in his kitchen cupboards. Wendy from the council tries her best with him, but she has her own son, Dylan to worry about, with his court appearance coming up. When a stroke of unlikely good luck befalls Huw, he, along with Wendy and all the other residents of the village embark on a train trip to London. In this funny, emotional play about memory, trauma, and the joys of soft-close toilet seats, Huw Fyw must reckon with the ghosts of his past, his survivor’s guilt and decide what to do about the gun in the lunch box.
