BWTHYN Morfarch Arian 195x130 22mm T

“The coming-of-age tale of a young girl at a crossroads, who discovers a friend like no other […] A blend of compassion and fun, with subtle flashes of humour.”

Annes Glynn, adjudicator National Eisteddfod Prose Medal 2024

Y Morfarch Arian(The Silver Seahorse)

Winner of the Prose Medal at the 2024 National Eisteddfod of Wales

Odd-thing. Odd-girl. Odd-bod.

Heli Jôs is different. She does unusual, repetitive things, in order to protect her loved ones from the bad things that might happen to them. As she enters her teenage years and the axis of her life is tilted, she finds solace in the company of a new friend – Tangaroa, a young man of Māori origin – and their shared love of the sea.

The unique tenor of this contemporary, allegorical novel will appeal to a broad range of ages and readers. As the fates of Heli and Tangaroa intertwine, Y Morfarch Arian (The Silver Seahorse) becomes a celebration of cross-cultural connection, and the enduring power of storytelling to reconnect us to the magic of the natural world.
