Two volumes of short stories from Wales have recently been published in India, the first, Karuppu: Welsh Cherukathakal, published by DC Books. The book features Malayalam translations by Jolly Varghese of stories written by Angharad Price, Lloyd Jones, Owen Martell, Deborah Kay Davies, Fflur Dafydd, Clare Morgan, Rachel Trezise, Tony Bianchi, Robert Minhinnick, and Sian Melangell Dafydd.
Also recently published by Sampark is the Anthology of Short Stories from Wales in Bengali, translated by Sunandan Roy Chowdhury, who also translated Angharad Price’s O! Tyn y Gorchudd. The anthology contains stories written by Tristan Hughes, Deborah Kay Davies, Sian Melangell Dafydd, Fflur Dafydd, Lloyd Jones, Angharad Price, Francesca Rhydderch, Robert Minhinnick, and Mihangel Morgan. However, this is not the first of Sampark’s translations of Welsh short stories, as they launched The Anthology of Welsh Short Fiction in 2015, Bangla translations of the work of ten Welsh authors.
