Elgan Rhys

After a decade in Cardiff, Elgan Rhys now lives in Caernarfon. He mainly writes and co-creates theatre projects (Dy Enw Marw / Your Name is Dead, 2024; Branwen: Renaissance, 2023; Llyfr Glas Nebo (The Blue Book of Nebo), 2020) and literature Y Pump (The Five, 2021), and is now Head of Engagement with the Frân Wen theatre company.

His debut play Woof was described by The Guardian as “a triumph” the Sherman Theatre, and noted by both BBC Radio Wales’ Review Show and Wales Arts Review as a theatre highlight of 2019.

Recurring elements in his work are community co-creation, an interest in multilingualism, the amplification of young people’s voices and telling stories of contemporary queer life. Elgan has been BAFTA Cymru-nominated for his TV work, and is one of Stonewall Cymru’s Role Models.
