The Five Hi Res

The Five

“Groundbreaking, heartbreaking and heart mending. Get this on your TBR list. These voices are vibrant and innovative - a new generation of talent.” Caryl Lewis

The Five follows a year in the interconnected lives of five outcasts who forge a singular bond at their secondary school in north-west Wales. As they navigate the joys and tribulations of what makes them different as individuals, their newfound community is both tested and strengthened.

This boldly original and tender-hearted young adult novel is adapted by Mared Roberts from the multi-award-winning Welsh-language series Y Pump, which was co-created in an innovative authorship process led by the voices of Wales’ next generation. The result is a distinctive and relatable depiction of young adult life in Wales today.

The original Welsh language series, Y Pump, won the 2022 Wales Book of the Year in both the Children & Young People and People's Choice categories, as well as the 2022 Tir na n-Og Welsh Language Secondary Category.

The authors who collaborated on this book are: Elgan Rhys with Tomos Jones; Mared Roberts with Ceri-Anne Gatehouse; Marged Elen Wiliam with Mahum Umer; Iestyn Tyne with Leo Drayton; and Megan Angharad Hunter with Maisie Awen.
