'Pan ddaw pwerdai barddol penodol ynghyd, pefria'r aer gyda hud sy'n perthyn i gomedau neu enfysau dwbwl. Mae rhyfeddodau prin tebyg yn cael eu tanio gyda dyfodiad blodeugerdd ddiweddaraf Honno wrth iddi godi lleisiau menywod Cymru sy'n byw gyda phoen, salwch neu gyflyrau cronig, a hynny gyda'r nod o greu newid deddfwriaethol.'Katrina Moinet, Nation.Cymru (cyfieithiad)
‘Mae Chronic Women | Menywod Cronig yn gyfrol foesol, ac adeiladol, y mae’n rhaid i ffeministiaid a charwyr llenyddiaeth gydag ymdeimlad cryf o gyfiawnder cymdeithasol a’r rheini sy’n byw gyda phoen a chyflyrau cronig, a’u hanwyliaid, ei darllen.’Joanne Owen, LoveReading (cyfieithiad)
‘Mae Chronic Women | Menywod Cronig yn fwy na chasgliad o gerddi. Fel cyfanwaith, mae’r gyfrol hon yn weithred o dystiolaeth, yn alwad i ymwybyddiaeth, ac, mewn sawl ffordd, yn gri i godi llais.’Dr C Helen Munro, Arweinydd Clinigol Rhwydwaith Iechyd Menywod, Perfformiad a Gwella GIG Cymru (cyfieithiad)
A powerful and unflinching collection of poems about living with long-term health conditions.
This bilingual anthology bears witness to a range of conditions as 14 women poets share their reality of living with pain, illness or chronic conditions. With its courageous aim to bring about change in legislation, this book empowers and amplifies the voices of women in Wales and beyond.
The fourteen contributors include the editors themselves, alongside Sioned Erin Hughes, Myfanwy Alexander, Mel Perry, Emma Smith Barton, Lal Davies, Bethany Handley, Nia Wyn Jones, Kandace Siobhan Walker, Rhian Elizabeth, Iola Ynyr, Durre Shahwar and clare e potter. They assert their right to be heard as they continue to advocate for autonomy, and for the power to speak up about their own bodies, within the patriarchal healthcare system.
Few poetry anthologies are published with a legislative aim. This one is: fourteen poets, writing bilingually from inside a healthcare system, with the declared purpose of changing how it treats them. That combination — the literary and the campaigning held together, in two languages — is what makes the book travel beyond Wales.
