Dynolwaith

A solo play about transition, fragile support, and who stays when it matters.

It is 2015, and Jac is transitioning. Around him tensions rise, relationships strain, and the support he has relied on begins to feel more fragile than it looked. When a crucial rejection arrives, he pushes himself to dangerous limits, and the play's question becomes whether the people who love him will still be there at his darkest.

Written and first performed by Leo Drayton, Dynolwaith was produced by Frân Wen and toured Wales in Autumn 2025. It is co-published by Frân Wen and Theatr Sherman in Cyhoeddiadau'r Stamp's Sgriptiau Stampus series, which gives new Welsh-language drama a readership beyond its initial tour.

A solo piece that a small company anywhere could stage, it is also a young minoritised language speaker articulating a contemporary experience of gender in their own words rather than borrowed ones — something every small-language theatre culture in Europe is now working towards.
