R.S.Thomas's reputation continues to grow internationally. Qui? is the nicely chosen title of the first book-length selection of his poetry to appear in French, and consists of sixty poems from all periods of his work presented in the original English with the French translations on facing pages. Three writers, all of whom have strong connections with Wales, have been involved in the selection and translation: Marie-Thérèse Castay, a specialist in Welsh literature and translator from both Welsh and English who was a long-standing friend of the poet; Jean-Yves Le Disez, an experienced translator from both Welsh and English literature, and the poet and translator Paul Keineg. The paperback volume is published with the support of Wales Literature Exchange by Les Hauts-Fonds, who have simultaneously published a short essay by Marie-Thérèse Castay in pamphlet form: R.S.Thomas, poète de paradoxes.
