“We insist on reclaiming the streets and reimagining the world because it does, after all, belong to all of us.” - Mabli Siriol
What does it mean to be a woman in twenty-first-century Wales? Hi/Hon (She/Her) is a timely and powerful collection of stories and essays responding to this central question, bringing together works by ten authors based in Wales all of whom identify as women.
Wide-ranging in form and feel, and rooted in personal experience, the collection offers a diverse snapshot of contemporary female experience. Prize-winning authors – including 2023 Yoto Carnegie Medal winner Manon Steffan Ros – appear alongside newer writers, fulfilling one of the book’s and the publisher’s central aims, to platform new voices.
With an introduction from its editors – aunt and niece Catrin Beard ac Esyllt Lewis – the book also features twelve works by the feminist artist Seren Morgan Jones, who also designed the cover.
The featured authors are: Megan Davies, Megan Hunter, Mabli Siriol Jones, Non Mererid Jones, Nia Morais, Grug Muse, Siân Northey, Rebecca Thomas, Miriam Sautin, Manon Steffan Ros.
